How to Tell if Your Exercise Routine Is Not Hard Enough | New ...

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

1. You?re not sweating

If you make it through a workout without sweating, chances are the workout routine was too easy for you. Sweating is the body?s natural way of cooling itself. Although you don?t have to be drenched in sweat after your workout, you should at least have some perspiration during and after the workout. Of course this all depends on the temperature and the environment you are working out in. For example, if it is cold in your house in the middle of Winter, you probably won?t sweat as much. On the other hand, if it is in the middle of summer, sweat is most likely uncontrollable.

2. You find yourself yawning and nodding off

This is probably a good sign that you need to be on a complete different workout program. Most likely you are bored with the one you are on and you have hit a plateau. At this point you are simply going through the motions and just doing enough to get by. Although I applaud those who continue to workout even while they are falling asleep, there is a better way to use your time more wisely.

3. You can complete all sets and reps without a struggle

If you are able to complete every set and every repetition of your workout routine without hardly any strain, you probably need to increase weight, sets, reps or all of them. You should always be using enough weight to make it difficult for you to complete all reps but not so much that you compromise your form. If you find that you are using momentum in order to lift the amount of weight you are using, you need to decrease the weight. On the other hand, if you can perform the last rep just as easy as you did the first rep then you should increase the weight.

4. You?re not seeing results

This is perhaps the best indicator that your workout may by too easy. If you workout consistently but see no substantial results, you probably need more difficulty added. Make sure you are involved in a workout program that is designed to help you achieve the results you are looking for. If you are looking to gain muscle mass, you shouldn?t be on a program that has you doing cardio every day. In other words, make sure your workout program is designed to specifically address your needs.

Keep in mind that if your workout is too easy then you may need to re-examine your overall fitness goals. Exercise requires a lot of time and energy and to waste it on something that may not give you results is not the smartest use of time. Also understand that every workout you do doesn?t have to be at the top of the charts on the intensity level. If you are constantly performing extremely challenging workout routines, you will burnout quickly. This trick is to maintain balance between high intensity workouts and those that are not so intense.
