Job Summary

Under broad supervision, performs general/cost accounting and other financial/operational analysis activities and assists in the execution of various accounting processes as part of a formal accounting rotational program. This is a training and development program where assignments and approach are reviewed in progress and at completion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs general/cost accounting activities or participates in assembling and compiling financial and/or other operational data. These activities may include preparing journal entries, checking supporting entries, account reconciliation, reporting and/or cost accounting analysis.

2. Applies accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions.

3. Prepares a variety of financial statements and reports.

4. May assist in special projects.

5. May provide assistance to less experienced accounting staff.

6. May provide support to financial and other staff on accounting and other related issues.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

1. Knowledge of corporate and departmental accounting practices, procedures and principles as well as understanding of GAAP and/or statutory accounting principles.

2. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

3. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

4. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels.

5. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete projects effectively.

6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

7. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, accounting systems and applications and other business-related software systems.

Education & Experience

1. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in accounting or finance, or equivalent.

2. May possess up to two years of related work experience.
