Felipe Massa positive about Ferrari?s performance in Korean GP ? Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa has expressed confidence regarding the performance of his racing team Ferrari at the Korean Grand Prix taking place tomorrow at the Suzuka racing track.
Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull racing team had set the fastest pace in the second free practice session. Massa finished in sixth position behind Vettel while teammate Fernando Alonso came in third. Both drivers completed within 0.6 seconds of the pace set by Vettel. ?
Massa has admitted to the fact that the one lap pace has been a weak point for his team this season but they are going to concentrate on being competitive rather than winning the race this weekend.
?I'd say this weekend has got off on the right foot, but the important thing is to continue down this path tomorrow and Sunday, when it really counts,? Massa said. ?Our car seems pretty good on this track, which is cause to be hopeful, even if we will only discover the truth tomorrow in qualifying.?
Teammate Alonso also backed the same kind of comments. He stated that while he had seen an improvement in his pace during the practice session; Ferrari had not been focusing on improving times. He said that it is difficult to compare themselves to their opponents but they were mostly trying to improve their own individual performance. He expressed his concerns about the difficulty of the third sector in the track saying that it consists of corners mostly. He pointed out that the practice session had been fruitful as they achieved the goals they had set.
Massa also commented on the difference between soft and super soft but added that they didn?t find them difficult. He also appreciated the tyre compounds stating that they had been helpful for the team and will give them a chance to be among the qualifying teams.
??Now we are trying to prepare as well as possible for qualifying, which looks like being very closely contested: there is some very strong opposition and we will have to do everything perfectly if want to be able to match them,? he added.
